Historical hotel Sovietsky is a 4-stars hotel situated on the way from Kremlin to the international airport Sheremetyevo-2, not far from the downtown.
The history of the hotel dates back to 1952 when it was built under the order of Iosif Stalin in Russian Empire style. Since then, the hotel tries to combine old traditions with modern amenities. For a long period of time the Sovietsky was an official hotel for the Soviet government. Therefore it is well-known among the foreign dignitaries. The Prime Minister of Great Britain Margaret Thatcher, the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Conrad Adenauer, the King of Spain Huan Karlos, the Prime Minister of India Indira Handy, government delegations and popular artists such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ani Jirardeau, Adriano Chellentano, singers from La Scala stayed here.
